Dear VOL Participant:
We’re very pleased to welcome you to the 5th annual speaks VOLumes Virtual Online Learning Conference (VOL). The next three days will feature learning, collaboration and networking with colleagues.
Two types of sessions are available for the conference. The informational session is a one hour presentation in which you can interact with the presenter. The virtual lab session is a two hour hands-on sessions that allow for guided practice time during the session. The Virtual lab is by reservation only using the Virtual Lab Reservation Day 3 - July 29 form located in the Schedule section of the Conference Menu. Seating is limited!
Day one kicks off at 8:30am CDT with a short introduction, hosted by members of the VOL Team. This session will include a tour of the conference site and the sharing of some tips for getting the most out of the conference.
Wednesday Keynotes begin at 10:00 am CDT, featuring Raymond Rose in "Why All the Attention to Accessibility".
Other Keynotes for the day are 2:00 pm CDT featuring John Watson in "The digital learning landscape 2015 - Myths and realities" and at 3:30 pm CDT featuring Mawi Asgedom in "Accelerate student success through online leadership training".
Featured in our "Learning With The Authors" series at 11:30 am CDT is Michael Simonson in "r-books vs e-book - the evolution of the author".
If you would like even more detailed information on any live session along with the ability to search, visit the Live Schedule section listed in the Conference Menu and click on the presenter's name.
To access the conference:
- Go here first http://pd.txvsnetwork.org
- Login
- Click the "speaks VOLumes" menu open from the top navigation bar.
To access the live events schedule:
- Click on the LIVE SCHEDULE link from the Schedule heading in the Conference Menu located in the right column or the speaks VOLumes > Schedule selection of the top navigation menu.
- Scroll to review the events.
- Click on a presenter's name to read more.
To join a live event:
- 30 minutes or shortly before the scheduled event, click on LIVE SCHEDULE from either option above.
- Click on an event title.
- Click the "Join session" link that is top the event's pertinent information. The link will not appear until time is allowed to join the session.
To access a recording:
- Click on “Recordings” icon from either Conference Menu.
- Click on an event of interest.
- Click on the" Play recording" link.

RUN THE TECHNICAL CHECK
After you have joined and entered the VOL Conference Community, we recommend visiting the TECHNICAL CHECK link which is located under the Support menu. COME IN EARLY TO A GIVEN SESSION, download takes a while to join.
The Technical Check tests will help you confirm that your computer is prepared for the conference. If you run into any problems on test 3, please contact Connie Swiderski at connie.swiderski@region10.org and provide as much detail as possible. We are here to assist you!
Please be patient with the technology, if your connection is dropped during a live session as soon as the connection is reestablished you will be right back in the session. If you do miss anything, remember that each session is being recorded.
LOST PASSWORD
If you have forgotten your password retrieve it from the Lost password
- Click the Lost password link directly under the Login button top right column
- Type in your Username or Email Address, not both
- A message will be emailed to you (hopefully not caught in any spam filtering) to change your password.
- If the message is not received due to filtering, please contact Connie Swiderski at connie.swiderski@region10.org and she will reset your password to VOL.
CONFERENCE CAFE
